Africa-Press – Eswatini. On May 28, 2025 William Stuart Academy transformed into a vibrant tapestry of colour, rhythm, and cultural pride during its annual Culture Day.

This spirited event celebrated the school’s rich diversity, bringing together students, parents, and staff for a day filled with heritage and joy.

The day featured a powerful keynote address by reigning Miss Cultural Heritage Eswatini Gcinizwi Tsikati along with a special appearance from a representative of the Ministry of Arts and Culture. Their presence highlighted the event’s significance and underscored the importance of cultural education in nurturing a well-rounded community. Principal Ngezi Ngwenya shared her vision for the event: “By showcasing various cultures, we aim to foster appreciation for different backgrounds.”

Culture Day was a feast for the senses, with traditional performances such as ummiso, sibhaca, and imigubho electrifying the audience. The imvunulo parade showcased stunning traditional attire, while attendees enjoyed a delicious cultural food presentation that turned the school grounds into a lively marketplace of flavours.

The collaborative spirit was palpable as students, teachers, and parents worked together to create an unforgettable experience.

Parents brought traditional dishes to share, adding to the sense of community and celebration.

One of the standout highlights was a unified dance performed by students from various backgrounds, symbolizing cooperation and the beauty of diversity. Attendees were also moved by heartfelt testimonials from students about their heritage, leaving many with tears of joy.

The day was further elevated by the presence of the Ministry of Arts and Culture representative, who acknowledged the school’s efforts in promoting cultural awareness. Principal Ngwenya emphasized the lasting impact of such events: “These experiences build bridges between students, helping them connect on a deeper level.”

Looking ahead, William Stuart Academy is set to continue its cultural initiatives year-round, including workshops, cultural exchange programmes, and celebrations of various heritage festivals. “Culture Day is just one part of our larger commitment,” Ngwenya affirmed, ensuring every student feels seen, valued, and empowered.
