Africa-Press – Eswatini. The development of local towns are evidenced by their planned and implemented capital projects.

The Ngwenya Town Board has quite a number of capital projects slated for the upcoming financial year 2024/25. The total budget for the projects is E3 493 500. According to the town’s budget estimates for the financial year 2024/25, it has budgeted to spend at least E800 000 for the town’s cemetery, chapel, ablutions and borehole. Another E800 000 has been budgeted for the maintenance of gravel roads within the town, while E600 000 has been budgeted for designs of the town’s bus rank.

Project

The council will also engage on a project of constructing a drainage system at Mabuya, which will cost at least E500 000. The council has planned to spend E100 000 on sewer designs for the Ngwenya Village’s new plots while another E100 000 has been budgeted for land acquisition. The change of Highmast lights to LED will cost the council E110 000 while E400 000 has been budgeted for the rehabilitation of cluster houses and E83 500 is budgeted for purchasing waste skips.

Furthermore, the town’s total recurrent expenditure for the next financial year is set at E1 738 200 while the total special capital expenditure is set at E205 000. The recurrent expenditure will include E399 600 for street lights and Highmast lights. The town’s maintenance of recreational facilities is budgeted to cost E150 000 and maintenance of Board structures is also budgeted to cost E150 000. The total budget for all the town’s projects is set at E5 436 700 which shows to be a bit lower than the budget for 2023/24 which was E5 471 000.
