Africa-Press – Eswatini. The office of the Attorney General launched its Strategic Plan 2024 to 2028 and also unveiled its new logo representing a bold, dynamic, and forward-looking approach.

Following the launch, Attorney-General Sifiso Khumalo revealed that the five-year strategy requires a budget of approximately E45,000,000.00 in the next five years to be implemented to full effect.

He said this is more than what is normally appropriated to the Office by Parliament. The additional resources would have to be sourced through the mobilisation of resources from Development partners.

The delivery and success of some of their objectives are dependent upon the success of resource mobilisation and, if luck should have it, their budget allocation increased.

Khumalo mentioned that this plan, aligned with global and national instruments like SDG 16 and the African Union Agenda 2063, is crucial for steering the office toward enhanced operational efficiency, institutional capacity, and organisational effectiveness.

“The journey ahead is significant, and together, we will navigate the challenges and leverage the opportunities, ensuring justice and the rule of law for all.

Let us move forward with integrity, professionalism, and teamwork, holding ourselves accountable to these values as we implement this strategy,” he said.

Khumalo further extended the Government’s gratitude to UNDP for the invaluable support in developing this strategy which has moved from being a pipe dream to reality.

“We need to mobilise resources to fund our programs. This is why we are heavily indebted to UNDP, as we believe they have set the stage and tone that other development partners should follow and come to the party by funding the entire strategy and its launch,” he said.

Along with their strategy, the AG’s office was launching their new logo, as they started to refresh their look in general.

“The new logo and brand identity reflect the bold, energetic, and forward-looking culture of our office designed to set us apart from the rest, inspire and further elevate us as a team of excellence and the number one Law Office in the Land.

We have decided to go for something dynamic, something bold and gold. We believe that in the life of every institution, there comes a moment when you need to look closer at who you are or better who you have become and make that visible also for the others,” he said.

Meanwhile, the AG said a strategic plan is of great importance because running an organisation without one is like flying a plane without a compass; hence the importance of a strategic plan is underscored.

The strategic plan process was highly consultative across all key stakeholders, as they believe that there can never be an effective and efficient law office strategic plan without the participation of the people themselves.

“The development of the strategic plan was an odious task that we embarked on with zeal knowing that the nation and our stakeholders depended on us getting it right.

We took into consideration both the past and the present and attempted the best we could to forecast the future,” he said.

Worth mentioning is that the strategic plan articulates better than ever before their mandate of providing legal services to the entire government and country.

“I hope that this 5-year strategic plan and road map will help us navigate how best we can leverage on emerging opportunities and conquer the challenges that we are facing,” he said.
