Africa-Press – Eswatini. Nathie Dlamini, the Business Eswatini Chief Executive Officer(CEO)says employers and workers must honestly engage to avoid strike actions and other challenges facing the economy of the country.
Business Eswatini and the Trade Union Congress of Swaziland(TUCOSWA) hosted a two(2) day Extra-Ordinary Job Summit at Ezulwini on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Business Eswatini CEO said the bipartite was aimed at finding possible solutions to a wide variety of issues affecting both employers and workers.
“Our economy is in the doldrums and compounding the problem is that a good number of businesses are experiencing challenges in the labour relations space as evidenced by sporadic strikes – some of which are illegal. It is time to have an open and honest conversation about these issues. Employers and employees need to find each other as a matter of urgency,” said the CEO.
Bheki Mamba, the President of the Trade Union Congress of Swaziland(TUCOSWA) said the summit gave them an opportunity to come together and engage regarding the challenges faced by workers.
“We are now working together in finding solutions,when employees and employers speak in one voice to say we have a political problem that has now manifested into a economic problem,this will allow us to talk about opportunities and future threats collectively”, said the TUCOSWA President.
