ENCAC IMPLEMENTED OVER 20 PROJECTS IN 2021

Africa-Press – Eswatini. ESWATINI National Council of Arts and Culture was able to implement 24 projects in 2021. This is according to the ministry of sports, culture and youth affairs Annual Performance Report 2021. The report was tabled by the ministry yesterday in parliament. According to the report, the department of Arts and Culture was allocated a budget of E4 297 164 and ENCAC received E3 780 392 as subvention.

The report listed projects that were supported by the ministry over the past year. These include the establishment of an online TV channel called Eswatini Arts TV. This channel is currently running on YouTube and was launched as a bid to assist artists to keep track of their audience while gatherings and entertainment events were suspended.

The channel is also accessible through all the social media networks and provides profiles and content on local artists. Another project funded by the association was The Vaul Unlocked Music Compilation. These projects was pioneered by a group of young people in the arts, these include Antidote Music and Beats on Beats.

The music compilation was initiated to give exposure to local artists by distributing their music to over 300 online music stores and paid streaming services whilst creating a digital music market for local music.

This would then increase Eswatini’s digital footprint, increase the consumption of local music digitally and enhance the chances of global delivery.

The National Choral Music Competition was also one of the projects that ENCAC helped in hosting last year. After the absence of sponsorship from Standard Bank due to COVID-19, the ENCAC assisted the competition to remain relevant to its audience.

The solo choristers and groups battled for E70 000 prizes. Other projects include Regional Traditional Dance Competition, Miss Cultural Heritage, Release of Grants to Affiliate and Arts bodies, The Arts COVID-19 Report Card, Board Induction and Corporate Governance Workshop, Umhlanga Ceremony, Intellectual Property Rights Workshop, Dust to Digital, National Sibhaca and Ingadla Competition, Group Rehearsals For Dubai Expo 2020 Cultural Troupe, Jovel’Industry Mass Vaccination Campaign, Council of Arts and Culture Magazine, ENCAC Webpage and many others. One of the events also hosted successfully last year was the Social Media Awards.

With the support of the council, they started at regional level where young people from all walks of life were presented with an opportunity to learn on disadvantages and advantages of social media.

The report also mentions that ENCAC continued to support the awards when they were hosted. The project started with a national tour, sensitising the nation about the awards. The aim was to work with the young people of Eswatini from every sphere of the beautiful kingdom.
