Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) is celebrating a momentous achievement as its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Maxwell Jele, graduated with distinction in the Master’s in Executive Sports Management (MEMOS) programme.

Mr. Jele recently returned from Lausanne, Switzerland, where he successfully presented and defended his dissertation, titled “The Route to Attaining the First Olympic Medal for Eswatini.” His research explored pathways, structures, and strategies that could lead to the Kingdom of Eswatini’s long-awaited Olympic medal. His exceptional performance throughout the course earned him an overall average of 83%.

Recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and delivered in partnership with leading universities across the globe, the MEMOS programme is one of the world’s most respected platforms for developing top-tier sports administrators. The intensive year-long course is specifically designed to empower sports leaders with advanced management, leadership, and strategic planning skills.

Speaking to this publication, Jele expressed pride in both his personal milestone and its potential impact for Eswatini. “It’s through hard work but more than anything really, i think for me is to thank all the people that were in involved in this journey starting with the board of EOCGA because they agreed that I should take the masters. Others include the Olympic solidariy, my fellow memosians, my staff together with the national sports council and national sports federations who played a crucial role particularly in my dissertation project.”

Jele further explained that he is hopeful that it will bring significant impact on the sporting environment of Eswatini. “I am certain and hopeful that this qualification is not only for me but it is a qualifucation that will seriously enhance the sport sector particularly our dream of reaching the olympic medal as a country.”

The EOCGA hailed his success as a testament to the association’s commitment to excellence and the future of sports development in Eswatini. Jele’s distinction places him among an elite group of international sports leaders who have undergone the MEMOS training, further enhancing the Kingdom’s voice within the global Olympic Movement.

With his new expertise, Jele is expected to lead the EOCGA with fresh strategies aimed at developing athletes, strengthening systems, and ultimately charting a path toward Eswatini’s historic first Olympic medal.
