Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) and the Lesotho National Olympic Committee (LNOC) have officially renewed their Cooperation Agreement for the 2025–2028 quadrennial.
The signing of agreement reaffirmed the two countries shared commitment to advancing sport development and Olympic values within the Southern African region.
It also builds on a long-standing relationship between the two National Olympic Committees, anchored on collaboration, knowledge sharing, and athlete-centred development. The partnership is expected to strengthen institutional capacity and enhance opportunities for athletes in both countries.
The Cooperation Agreement was signed at EOCGA Headquarters by the Presidents of the two organisations, signalling continued cooperation in line with the principles of Olympic Solidarity and regional integration.
Key focus areas under the renewed agreement include athlete-centred development programmes, Olympic Solidarity capacity-building initiatives, safeguarding and athlete welfare systems, cultural exchange and sports diplomacy, as well as exchange programmes, shared reporting, and response frameworks.
EOCGA noted that the partnership is strategically positioned to deliver sustainable impact by strengthening governance structures, improving athlete support systems, and promoting best practice across sporting codes.
Ahead of the formal signing, the Lesotho delegation was hosted on a cultural and scenic tour showcasing Eswatini’s heritage and natural attractions. The visit included Mantenga Cultural Village and its waterfalls, the iconic Sibebe Rock, as well as engagements at Hilton Garden Inn Mbabane and the world-renowned Swazi Candles Craft Centre. The programme concluded with a dinner engagement at Summerfields Country House, providing an opportunity for informal exchange and relationship building.
Looking ahead, EOCGA expressed confidence that the renewed cooperation with LNOC will continue to yield tangible benefits for athletes and sport administrators, while reinforcing the role of sport as a catalyst for unity, development, and excellence across the region.
