Africa-Press – Eswatini. Eswatini is among the 10 countries set to compete in this year’s Africa Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 Youth Games.
Namibia will be hosting the games from July 4 to 14, 2025and the other countries are Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The AUSC Region 5 Youth Games are a multi-sport event for young athletes.
The Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council (ESRC) along the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) are yet to announce the sporting codes and the team to represent the country in regional competitors.
Namibia to show their readiness in hosting the game, they began the official count down of the 11th edition. According to the AUSC Region 5, the games were officially launched in Windhoek by Hon. Dino Ballotti, Namibia’s newly appointed Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture.
“This year’s theme, “Own The Moment,” is a powerful call to action — empowering young athletes across the region to take charge of their sporting journey, unlock their full potential, and rise to greatness.
It’s about seizing opportunities, pushing boundaries, and showing the world what you’re made of!
The theme also champions fair play, respect, and regional unity as young athletes from across Southern Africa in Windhoek. The youth is rising, and they’re taking Africa with them.
