Africa-Press – Eswatini. A wave of optimism swept through Msumpe today as Eswatini Bank Board Chairman Dumisani Mahlindza led a site visit to the thriving filling station owned by Celumusa Dlamini—a proud example of how locally funded enterprises are driving Eswatini’s economic transformation.
Speaking during the tour of Dlamini’s second filling station, both financed by Eswatini Bank, Chairman Mahlindza shared powerful insights about the bank’s commitment to uplifting local entrepreneurs and fueling economic development from the ground up.
“This visit is part of our national tour to better understand our clients, their challenges, and to appreciate how our funds are transforming communities,” Mahlindza explained. “We’re not just approving loans on paper. We want to see where the money goes and how it’s making a difference.”
Highlighting the bank’s human-centered approach, Mahlindza emphasized that Eswatini Bank is not closed off to ordinary citizens, especially youth and aspiring entrepreneurs. “There’s a narrative out there that says it’s difficult to access financing,” he said. “But we want to change that mindset. The bank is here to support anyone with a viable business plan.”
Mahlindza also clarified the bank’s role as a responsible financial intermediary. “We must protect both depositors and borrowers. That means we have to evaluate business plans carefully. But many people give up before even trying. Our message is simple—don’t be afraid to approach us.”
He also praised the government for supporting entrepreneurship through schemes run by Eswatini Bank. “We are managing several government-backed initiatives that are specifically designed to help Emaswati start businesses, create jobs, and stimulate local economies,” he said.
To young people dreaming of starting businesses, Mahlindza had this to say: “Do not fear debt. If you’ve got a good business idea, bring it forward. Not every plan will succeed, but many do. The important thing is to take the first step.”
As Celumusa Dlamini’s growing enterprise stands as proof of what is possible with the right support, Mahlindza’s message echoes a powerful call to action: “The doors of Eswatini Bank are wide open. Let’s build the future of this country—together.”
