Africa-Press – Eswatini. Acting Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Jane Mkhonta-Simelane says Their Majesties’ continued support will help Eswatini meet the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Mkhonta-Simelane made this remark on 9 July 2025 during the official handover of a new two-roomed house with a bathroom to Nkosinathi Ngwenya (48) of Nsingweni, under Maphalaleni Inkhundla. The house was donated by Her Majesty the Indlovukazi, and the event marked a significant improvement in Ngwenya’s standard of living.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Acting DPM said the initiative was proof of Eswatini’s commitment to honouring international agreements. “Our country is a signatory to several UN conventions and treaties, especially those focused on social welfare. The gift of a home to Mr Ngwenya is a reflection of our dedication to these principles,” she stated.

Mkhonta-Simelane added that Their Majesties continue to demonstrate their care for the nation by building homes for the vulnerable, which contributes directly to the achievement of the United Nations SDGs, particularly those related to poverty eradication, decent shelter, and dignity.

Overcome with emotion, Ngwenya said he was deeply grateful. “I was so happy I couldn’t eat. I still wonder what I’ve done to deserve such a house. I never imagined this would happen to me,” he said.

Ntombi Matse, who represented Her Majesty the Indlovukazi, congratulated Ngwenya and noted that Their Majesties’ gesture reflected deep compassion for their people. She also announced that Inkhosikati Make LaNkambule had donated a blanket for Ngwenya.

Also in attendance were Hhohho Regional Administrator Princess Tsandzile, Chief Maloyi of Nsingweni, and other dignitaries. Both Princess Tsandzile and Chief Maloyi praised Their Majesties’ generosity. Chief Maloyi further appealed for more support, highlighting that many residents in his area still live in dire conditions.

The event not only brought joy to one man but also reaffirmed national efforts toward improving the lives of vulnerable citizens and advancing Eswatini’s progress toward the 2030 SDG targets.
