Africa-Press – Eswatini. King Mswati, the Deputy Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community(SADC) Organ on Politics, Defense and Security Cooperation(Troika) has appointed former Deputy Prime Minister(DPM) Themba Masuku as the Head of SADC Observer Mission, Masuku will be overseeing the upcoming elections in Malawi.
The appointment was announced by Foreign and International Cooperation Minister Pholile Dlamini-Shakantu through a press release on Friday.
“The appointment made in His Majesty’s capacity as the Incoming Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community(SADC) Organ on Politics, Defense and Security Cooperation(Troika), underscores the Kingdom of Eswatini’s steadfast commitment to upholding the principles of democracy, peace, and regional integration within the SADC framework. Hon. Masuku will lead a delegation tasked with ensuring that Malawi’s electoral process adheres to the highest standards of transparency, credibility, and fairness, in alignment with the SADC Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections,” reads the press release in part.
Themba Masuku is the current Regional Administrator of the Shiselweni Region in the southern parts eSwatini, King Mswati will take over as the SADC Chairman next and is currently the Deputy Chairperson.
