Africa-Press – Eswatini. Government’s Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo has lashed out at all those behind the a plot to stage a revolution, following unconfirmed reports that there is a so-called ‘Eswatini winter revolution’ being planned for next month.
Referring to the ‘Eswatini winter revolution’ as a theory, Nxumalo has made it clear that the kingdom is not for sale.
This comes after confidential documents were leaked on social media platforms, detailing plans by international organisations, with the assistance of some Emaswati, to stage the winter revolution slated for next month.
The project, according to the unverified documents shared, was meant to deliberately create civil disobedience in Eswatini, as witnessed in June last year where business structures were not only destroyed but looted in clear acts of criminality. This subsequently led to government putting together a Reconstruction Fund, blessed by His Majesty King Mswati III, to help the business people that were affected by the unrest.
The clearly hot-under-the-collar Nxumalo said government was concerned about the endless occasions and times in which Emaswati had circulated and shared the Eswatini winter revolution reports.
“Explosive information is perforating through social media platforms about an international cartel of business people who allegedly held series of meetings with certain Emaswati based and purportedly exiled in the Republic of South Africa and crafted a revolutionary conspiracy called ‘Eswatini winter revolution’.
Government is not in a position to confirm at this stage the authenticity of the characters identified and the developments which preceded the meetings. However, these conspiracies, true or false, must be rejected fortwith and condemned by all peace-loving Emaswati in the strongest terms possible and with the contempt they deserve,” Nxumalo said.
With a strong emphasis that Eswatini was not for sale, Nxumalo pointed out that the country was only open to do business with anyone willing to follow and abide by stipulated rules of doing business in a sovereign country, ready to live and conduct themselves within the confines of the law.
“Kwemaswati (such as mineral resources), Emaswati will protect it at all times and at all cost.”
The plan and outlay of the winter revolution has been well documented in social media circles amid security concerns among many in light of the violent scenes witnessed in June last year.
The documents exposed in social media appeared to suggest that the endless arson attacks during last year’s political unrest in the country were allegedly funded by international organisations.
The document further exposed a number of international organisations believed to be part of the winter revolution plan, as they were allegedly hoping to benefit from the kingdom’s natural resources.
