Africa-Press – Eswatini. Eswatini’s participation in Africa’s Travel Indaba 2025 has been hailed as a significant success by the Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA).

According to the ETA, this event, which took place in Durban, South Africa, aligns with Eswatini’s goals of attracting investment, forming partnerships, and enhancing its reputation as a compelling tourist destination.

Key Highlights from the Event

Strong Attendance and Engagement: The event saw a remarkable turnout with over 9 990 attendees, marking a 7.7% increase from the previous year. This included 1 384 exhibitors and 1 037 buyers, the highest numbers recorded in the past four years, indicating a vibrant environment for networking and partnership opportunities.

Eswatini Delegation: The delegation was led by the Acting Minister for Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Honourable Skhumbuzo Dlamini, alongside ETA CEO Vusie N. Dlamini. They were joined by representatives from 22 hotels, lodges, guest houses, and community-based tourism initiatives, showcasing the diversity of Eswatini’s tourism offerings.

Focus on Partnerships: A significant achievement was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the KwaZulu-Natal Tourism & Film Authority and the ETA, aimed at enhancing cross-destination marketing and improving accessibility for tourists.

Showcasing Unique Offerings: Eswatini highlighted its rich cultural heritage, diverse landscapes, and wildlife experiences, including its famous rhino encounters. The MTN Bushfire Festival was also promoted as a key attraction.

Minister’s Emphasis on Collaboration: Minister Dlamini stressed the importance of collaboration among African nations to boost regional tourism, noting Eswatini’s strategic location near South Africa as a beneficial factor.

Economic Impact and Growth Targets: The Indaba is expected to have a substantial economic impact on Durban, with Eswatini aiming for 2 million tourist arrivals and E2 billion in tourism revenue by 2027. Participation in such events is crucial for achieving these ambitious targets.

Positive Trends in Tourism: Recent statistics show an 11.9% increase in tourist arrivals in March 2025 compared to March 2024, with a notable surge during the Easter period, indicating a positive trajectory for Eswatini’s tourism sector.

Overall, Eswatini’s active engagement in Africa’s Travel Indaba 2025 reflects its commitment to enhancing its tourism industry and fostering regional collaboration. Africa’s Travel Indaba 2025 was officially opened by His Excellency Paul Mashatile, South Africa’s Deputy President and Honourable Patricia de Lille, South Africa’s Minister for Tourism.
