Africa-Press – Eswatini. Eswatini presented a brief report to the Southern African Development Community (SADC) on the security situation in the country and also condemned the ongoing violence.
This was during the 42nd Ordinary SADC Summit of Heads State in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, themed “Promoting industrialization through, agro-processing, mineral beneficiation, and regional value chains for inclusive and resilient economic growth”.
His Majesty King Mswati III was part of the leaders in attendance.
According to the communiqué from SADC, Eswatini further mandated the Chairperson of the Organ to convene an Extra-ordinary Summit of the Organ Troika plus Eswatini, at a date to be determined, aimed at finding a peaceful and lasting solution to the security challenges facing the country.
The Summit further elected President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo as Chairperson of SADC and João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, the President of the Republic of Angola as the incoming chairperson.
