Africa-Press – Eswatini. Eco-inclusive entrepreneurship and green innovation are being recognised as key drivers for community empowerment and job creation across the region, and a recent initiative in Eswatini showcased this potential.
The Climate-Smart Initiative Training for Climate Action and Sustainable Development was held in Eswatini, bringing together youth participants from Hhohho, Lubombo, Manzini, and Shiselweni.
The training formed part of the Strengthening Community Education & Sustainable Livelihoods in the Lubombo Biosphere Reserve project under the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme and the Greening Education Partnership (GEP).
Organised in partnership with the Eswatini National Commission for UNESCO, the Eswatini National Trust Commission, and the UNESCO Regional Office for Southern Africa, the workshop aimed to equip young entrepreneurs with the tools to develop climate-smart and sustainable social business solutions. Participants were guided through the Indalovator toolkit, a resource designed for early-stage businesses.
Having local partners was highlighted as a critical component of the initiative, ensuring that training responds to the unique needs of communities while creating lasting impact.
The organisers expressed optimism about the future of the enterprises emerging from the workshop, emphasising the role of green and inclusive entrepreneurship in strengthening operations, empowering local communities, and fostering sustainable development.
