EXCO POSITION WIDE OPEN AS…‘BHANYAZA’, ‘NGUDZE’ BOUNCE BACK IN RACE

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Manzini Wanderers’ Govenor Bongani ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli is back in the race for the PLE executive member.

This was after he successfully challenged the decision by the ethics committee, chaired by Magistrate Zakhele Dlamini on Tuesday, after he, along other hopefuls in Tambankulu Callies Director Sithembiso ‘Ngudze’ Mamba and Jabulani Dlamini could not meet one of the requirements. The requirement states that they must have a certificate in any administrative course. The ethics committee was reportedly to have cited the PLE Constitution Article 33(5) (c), which states that Candidates for the executive committee members shall have training in football admiration and shall have played an active in the association.

Mdluli with the other candidates lodged an appeal with the appeals committee challenging the decision by the Dlamini-led committee. A source close to the matter revealed that the appeal was heard at the Sigwaca House yesterday and the trio successful challenged the decision, as they were declared clear to stand for the vacant position within the PLE executive committee.

“The appeal was successful as Bhanyaza, Ngudze and Jabulani are going to contest for the ExCo vacant position,” the source said. The source went on to reveal that the evidence they provided was sufficient that they had football training and were, therefore, qualified to stand for elections. The appeals committee was chaired by Lawyer Ndumiso Shongwe, with members, Polycarp Ngubane and Dr Leonard Ndlovu, while the ethics committee was represented by its Secretary Luke Shongwe and vice Chairperson Phumzile Thomo.

No immediate comment could be sourced from the candidates and the committees by the time this report was compiled. Meanwhile, the position was left void by Rudolph Matsenjwa after he sold the status of his team, Tambuti to Ezulwini United before the start of the 2023/24 MTN Premier League. The elections will be held on January 13, 2024 in a venue yet to be communicated by the PLE.
