‘FIGA’ TO JOIN SIHLANGU NEXT WEEK

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Eswatini international Justice Figareido will be joining the rest of the national team Sihlangu next week ahead of the September 8 AFCON qualifier.

The DStv Premiership side Richards Bay player is currently not part of the national team camp ahead of next week’s Group B last game of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 qualifiers. Since next week is FIFA week, Figuareido is expected to cross the border and join the camp at Lobamba.

Eswatini will fly to Morocco soon to honour this game on September 8. Meanwhile, Sihlangu tactician Dominic Kunene assured the nation his team was in good shape and he was pleased with the youth in the squad.“We are still yet to sit down and look at our strength and do an analysis of the opponents. I won’t say we are all out to defend as this game will also be a preparatory match for other continental tournaments,” Kunene said.

Dream

Kunene was speaking yesterday during the national team media day held at the EFA Technical Centre in Lobamba. Eswatini’s AFCON dream has been already dashed but they will soon have to honour the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and African Nations Championships (CHAN).

He went on to pass accolades to the teams for keeping selected players in good shape during the off season. He said they had light work as they just had to do some light polishing ups with the players.

“We will work hard there and never let the game slip off our hands despite being already knocked out. We know them, they are tough opponents but we will face them head-on,” he added. Kunene was hopeful for a friendly match ahead of Burkina Faso. He was clear that there could be no changes to be expected with current troops; instead he was only going to possibly beef up once the season was underway. Kunene appealed for support to new blood and emphasised that it was time to give a chance to other players as he had left out senior players such as the likes of Captain Lindo Mkhonta and Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa to name a few.
