Africa-Press – Eswatini. Ibuyile! After a long wait from members of the public, football will once again return to the country’s Mecca, Somhlolo National Stadium, where some of the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (SMVAF) Ingwenyama Cup round of 32 matches will be played.
The fixtures will be played starting from next Saturday and will be played at varoius venues with the tournament to be staged during the weekend of January 6 – 7.
This year’s sponsorship package stands at an impressive E4.650 million, with the champions to take home E1.4 million, while the runners-up will receive E500 000.
Teams already know who they will be facing in the round of 32 with the draw having been conducted earlier in the month at the SMVAF offices, and now they have been informed as to where the fixtures will be played.
Following over a year of lack of action at the stadium, it will host some of the opening games of the sixth edition of the SMVAF Ingwenyama Cup after undergoing renovations for the 55/55 celebration held in September.
It will now re-open its gates to host the nation’s favourite and biggest knockout competition as confirmed by Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Football Manager Petros Vilakati, who said Somhlolo would indeed be utilised for the round of 32 matches. It will start next Saturday by hosting a double header as Milling Hotspurs take on Shiselweni-based side Rangers at 1pm, followed by Ludzeludze Killers, who will be playing against Manzini Sea Birds.
Double
Another double header will be at Mavuso Sports centre when CK Survivors play Madlenya at 1pm followed by the much-anticipated grudge match between Manzini Wanderers and Sisonkhe later.
Other games to play next Saturday will be Nyanyali Celtics, who will play against Ezulwini United at King Sobhuza II Stadium, as Nyamane Celtics have the task of hosting Green Mamba at 3:30 pm.
Tambankulu Callies and Celtics will both be hosting in their home ground Tambankulu Stadium as Callies face Lubombo rivals Illovo at 1pm, while Celtics will march against police side Royal Leopard at 3:30 pm.
Manzini Club will have a double header of it’s own as Louis XIV play against Malanti Chief, followed by Manzini Region champions Xolani United who face Seven Dreams. Young Buffaloes will visit Ubombo Flyers at Mayaluka Stadium in a real David versus Goliath clash.
Sunday will see only two games being played, with the best being saved for last as Lozitha Spurs will play against capital city giants Mbabane Swallows in a grudge match from earlier in the season, while Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows march against Mbabane Highlanders. These matches will be played at Somhlolo National Stadium and will start at 1pm.
