FROM E100 000 TO E6.9 BILLION: THE GOLDEN RISE OF ENPF

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Fifty years ago, the Eswatini National Provident Fund (ENPF) began with just E100 000 in government seed capital.

Today, it stands as a E6.9 billion powerhouse, a trusted pillar of security for over 170 000 members and 7 000 employers.

In fact, ENPF has reached a remarkable milestone, celebrating 50 years of unwavering service, financial growth, and social security excellence.

The golden jubilee, held at the Eswatini Tourism and Trade Fair Grounds recently, was a grand tribute to a half-century of resilience, innovation, and empowerment. His Majesty King Mswati III hailed ENPF as more than just a financial institution, calling it “a beacon of stability and prosperity for the Kingdom of Eswatini”.

Unmatched Growth and Impact

Over the decades, ENPF has transformed lives through prudent management, strong governance, and visionary leadership. To date, it has paid out an impressive E3.1 billion in benefits to members, providing immediate relief and long-term comfort to those who have worked tirelessly for the nation.

The Fund’s investments in Eswatini have surged from 29% in 2007 to 59% in 2025, fueling growth in vital sectors such as hospitality, health, infrastructure, manufacturing, agriculture, and technology. Its portfolio, now worth E6.9 billion, has created thousands of jobs and driven economic progress across the country.

Championing Workers’ Welfare

From digitizing member services through the MyENPF app to introducing innovative products like funeral benefits for members’ families, ENPF has continually evolved to meet the needs of the modern labour force. Employers and employees alike have praised its efficiency, transparency, and commitment to delivering dignified service.

Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini congratulated ENPF for its role in building better livelihoods, empowering citizens, and supporting national development priorities such as education, healthcare, housing, and entrepreneurship.

Global Recognition

The ENPF’s excellence has not gone unnoticed internationally. The International Social Security Association (ISSA) has lauded its governance, innovation, and outstanding service delivery, recognising ENPF as a model social security institution in Africa and beyond.

Looking Ahead

As it enters its next chapter, ENPF remains committed to empowering EmaSwati with financial security, expanding its benefits, and sustaining the legacy of Lidlelantfongeni, a Fund for all workers, by the workers.

“We celebrate the promise of a future where every member of our society can enjoy the fruits of their labour with dignity,” said ENPF CEO Futhi Tembe.

From a modest fund to a financial giant powering national growth, ENPF’s golden journey stands as a testament to what vision, unity, and dedication can achieve. And as the next 50 years begin, Emaswati can look forward to even greater prosperity.
