Africa-Press – Eswatini. Government has assured the nation that fuel supply is stabilising, despite mounting pressure from global geopolitical tensions.
The Honourable Minister, HRH Prince Lonkhokhela, met with local oil companies on April 7,2026 to assess the country’s fuel situation and map a coordinated response to emerging challenges linked to instability in the Middle East, a key global oil-producing region.
During the meeting, the Minister commended oil companies for their resilience and commitment in maintaining a steady fuel supply under difficult conditions. He noted that their continued efforts had played a critical role in preventing severe shortages that could have disrupted economic activity and daily life.
Oil industry representatives acknowledged the Ministry’s proactive support, particularly interventions that enabled increased fuel imports from Mozambique. They also highlighted measures aimed at cushioning consumers from sharp price increases, which have become a growing concern amid global market volatility.
According to the industry, supply levels are steadily improving and are expected to fully meet national demand in the coming weeks. This development is likely to bring relief to businesses, transport operators and motorists who had been bracing for potential disruptions.
Despite the positive outlook, authorities warned that the situation remains fragile and subject to sudden changes due to unpredictable international developments. The Ministry has therefore committed to maintaining close oversight of the fuel market and ensuring regular communication with the public.
The engagement underscores government’s commitment to safeguarding energy security and stabilising the economy during a period of heightened global uncertainty.
