Africa-Press – Eswatini. Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS) in collaboration with Eswatini Television offered job shadow for high school students organized by Junior Achievement Eswatini.

It is a 10-day job shadowing program.

This initiative aims to provide students with firsthand experience in the media industry, allowing them to explore various career paths and understand the practical aspects of broadcasting and journalism. The program, made possible through the support of FNB Eswatini, offers students the opportunity to spend time in professional environments, observing and participating in the day to day operations of media organization.

Fakudze Neliseka, a Form 4 student from Hlatikhulu Central High School who wants to be a journalist , expressed her excitement,“I am very happy to be here at EBIS because I finally interacted with the people who I look up to. To be into radio, I was inspired by ‘Sgagu seMatfombeni.’ So now I am able to explore the career.. My highlight for today was being given the opportunity to be on air and share my greetings to the listeners.”

Chazile Mphila from Mbeka Anglican High School shared a similar sentiment: “I always wanted to be like Benjamin ‘Mfanyana’ Magongo. I am very happy, especially because it is my first time to be here at EBIS. I even got a chance to be on air. If I were given an opportunity to have my radio program, I would discuss youth issues, how to handle themselves, and respect.”

Tandzile Sukati from Lobamba National High School, inspired by her uncle Zwelihle Sukati, a journalist at the Eswatini Observer, said: “My uncle inspires me every day, and for me to be here at EBIS is like a dream come true. I am very happy to be given a chance to share public notices.”

Dlamini Sinenkhosi, aspiring to be an IT specialist or producer, added,“I am very happy to be here, though I am a bit nervous. I also got a chance to be in front of the camera with Eswatini TV. This opportunity motivates me to do my best at school so that I can achieve my dream career. To be into media, I was inspired by Honorable Nathi ‘Mdokis’ Hlophe.”

Siphesihle Vilakati from Junior Achievement Eswatini, who organized the program, emphasized its importance: “This opportunity will help them make informed decisions on the careers they choose not desiring to be a lawyer without knowing the day-to-day responsibilities of a lawyer. For them to be at work will teach them the importance and responsibility of that work.”

The job shadowing experience at EBIS has provided these students with valuable insights into the media industry, inspiring them to pursue their career aspirations with renewed enthusiasm.
