Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Minister of Information, Communications and Technology, Hon. Savannah Maziya, has announced that the Government in Your Hand (GIYH) platform will undergo significant expansion in 2026 as government accelerates its digital transformation agenda and improves service delivery for citizens across the country.
Speaking at the Royal Villas on Monday December 22,2025 Eswatini Media Awards, Minister said GIYH has become a cornerstone of government’s vision to build a highly digitised, efficient and inclusive public service, with a strong focus on reaching rural and underserved communities.
She revealed that the platform currently offers 15 digital products and services, with plans to grow the number aggressively in the new year.
“In 2026, Government in Your Hand will expand to include both government and non-government services,” she said. “These will range from livestock tracking and telemedicine to rural land boundary mapping, as well as school identification, applications and acceptance.”
Hon Savannah Maziya said the growth of GIYH reflects government’s determination to use technology to simplify access to services, reduce inefficiencies and stimulate economic activity. She added that the platform will also create opportunities for local innovators and start-ups to partner with government in delivering digital solutions.
The Minister highlighted that the Ministry of ICT has laid a solid foundation for the expansion of GIYH by strengthening national digital infrastructure, including the installation of microwave connectivity across the country and increased bandwidth to ensure stable and reliable access.
She further noted that the Ministry has introduced free, internationally recognised coding, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity courses targeting 300,000 Emaswati, as part of a broader strategy to equip citizens with skills for the digital economy.
“These efforts are about preparing our people for the future that is already here,” she said. “Digitisation and AI are not optional. They are the new world, and we must participate as creators and problem-solvers, not just consumers.”
The Minister called on the media to play an active role in informing and educating the public about GIYH services, stressing that awareness and uptake are critical to the platform’s success.
“We ask the Fourth Estate to work with us in promoting Government in Your Hand and ensuring citizens understand the services available to them,” she said.
Looking ahead, 2026 will see government partnering with reputable local and international businesses, as well as parastatals, to extend the reach and impact of GIYH, while continuing to develop legislation that supports growth and protects citizens.
“Despite budget constraints, we remain committed to delivering digital services that improve lives and open up opportunities,” she said.
She expressed confidence that with continued investment in digital platforms such as GIYH, Eswatini can position itself as a regional digital service hub, drive employment and support sustainable economic growth.
