Africa-Press – Eswatini. Government has committed itself to ensure that it gives access to clean water for all Emaswati by 2028.

This means Government is now left with four years to ensure that such a feat is achieved, and it hopes to achieve that two years before the deadline set by the United Nations (UN) for all countries under this international organisation to have achieved the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Among the SDGs is the sixth one (SDG 6), which calls upon all countries to have ensured that by 2030, all countries under UN should make sure that all its people should have access to clean water. On top of that, those countries should have systems in place to sustainably manage the water and sanitation.

Government has made that commitment yesterday (April 14, 2024) at Mabantaneni, under Lubulini Constituency. Minister for Economic Planning and Development Dr Tambo Gina, who is also Lubulini Member of Parliament (MP), stated that by 2028, Govenrment had set a goal that all homesteads in the country should have water and electricity.

Speaking through Eswatini TV, Gina said His Majesty King Mswati III had commanded Govenrment to ensure that such an ambitious goal should come to fruition. He further mentioned that the King wanted to see the nation living under better conditions in all the corners of this country.

Dr Gina said this when he was introducing the second phase of a water project for the people of Mabantaneni, who had applied for this project in 2018. The project is said to be worth E5 million. Micro Projects is the one that is implementing the project for the people of Mabantaneni.
