Guzzani Clothing: from School Fashion Guru to People'S Brand

Africa-Press – Eswatini. What started as a humble hobby of revamping old clothes in high school has evolved into one of Eswatini’s most recognisable luxury streetwear brands, Guzzani Clothing.

The brainchild of founder Linda Malinga, Guzzani Clothing traces its roots back to when he was known among his peers as the “school fashion guru.” Coming from a less privileged background, he couldn’t afford high-end designs, so he took to altering his own clothes by hand, giving them fresh, bold looks. His unique style caught the attention of classmates, who soon asked him to work on their garments, and just like that, his first business was born under the name Guru Clothing.

By 2016, a rebrand was on the horizon. The new name, Guzzani, was creatively crafted from the first two letters of “Guru” and the ending of “designer,” evolving from “Gusigner” to the now-iconic Guzzani after early supporters pronounced it that way. “The name stuck like a glove in a hand, and I decided to go on with it,” Malinga shared. That’s how the brand earned its motto, “The People’s Brand.”

Describing Guzzani’s identity, Malinga says it’s “a luxury streetwear brand blending utility wear with modern streetwear designs that make you stand out with a bright and funky style.” The target audience spans fashion-minded consumers aged 18 to 55 who love and appreciate looking good.

What sets Guzzani apart, according to Malinga, is twofold: the uncompromising quality of fabrics used for every design and a customer service experience he calls “second best to none.” Every client receives VIP treatment, with the brand engaging them both before and after sales to gather feedback and ensure satisfaction.

Over the years, Guzzani has enjoyed major milestones, from collaborations with corporate giants and local creatives to consistently ranking in the top five clothing brands at the MTN SWAMA Awards and the Eswatini Creators Awards. “Seeing our customers wearing our garments with pride and smiles really touches me,” Malinga said.

Social media has been a key driver of Guzzani’s success, allowing the brand to reach customers locally and beyond, secure high-profile deals, and foster deeper relationships with followers. Fashion, Malinga believes, is “a form of self-expression that tells the world who you are without saying a word.”

Guzzani’s creative reach extends beyond clothing racks, with partnerships in sports, collaborations with local football teams, and styling entertainers for their performances.
