Africa-Press – Eswatini. Former Ghanaian national team captain Asamoah Gyan is ready to share his knowledge and experience with local players during his stay here.
Gyan landed in the country via King Mswati III International Airport yesterday ahead of the African Soccer Legends tournament to be staged at Mavuso Sports Centre today.
He was speaking during their welcoming ceremony held at King Sobhuza II Memorial Park in Lobamba yesterday. The soccer international was the first African legend to arrive on the day with the rest expected late in the evening.
“I am happy to finally be in the Kingdom of Eswatini for the first time ever and I am looking forward to exploring this wonderful country. One of the other things I would like to do during my time here is to share information a
nd experiences with local stars as well as mingle with various stakeholders in the country,” he said.
He further emphasised that education in collaboration with talent in sports was very important and that players should shy away from hard work in order to achieve their dreams.
“Coming to the initiative, he said he was happy to be part of it.
“We are very grateful for this opportunity as it will unite us as legends. “We should continue with this and I am so happy to be here and be part of such great initiative,” he said.
Meanwhile, Minister of Tourism Moses Vilakati said they were happy to see the initiative finally kick-off and to host the various countries and the legends. “We would like to welcome all the countries, which include Lesotho, Mozambique, Botswana, South Africa and Ghana. This festival will unite us and on behalf of the tourism ministry it is part of our mandate to unite different cultures through different activities, including sports,” he said.
