Eco-Rev Distributions (Pty) Ltd, a company with alleged links to Musa Mdluli, the husband to Hhohho Regional Administrator(RA) Princess Tsandzile is highly expected to cash over R250million as thousands of number plates expire.PUDEMO President says “Tinkhundla system is about royal looting”.
It has been disclosed that, the introduction of the expiring number plates was meant to enable Princess Tsandzile’s company to cash more millions again from the pockets of emaSwati, Eco-Rev Distributions (Pty) Ltd was exclusively awarded a tender around 2010 to manufacture the number plates.
But the looming change of number plates was confirmed by Public Works Minister Chief Ndlaluhlaza Ndwandwe last year, however some emaSwati told that, South African police “are already harassing them” for driving vehicles with expired number plates.
“We didn’t even know that our eSwatini number plates have an expiry date but the South African police stopped us along the road to verify the date only to find that it has expired. Thereafter they told us that, we are violating the law by driving a vehicle with an expired number plate,” said one Liswati who experienced challenges in South Africa.
Efforts to reach Hhohho Regional Administrator Princess Tsandzile proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
Reached for comments on Tuesday, Mlungisi Makhanya , the President of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) said, the introduction of expiring number plates was intentionally meant to fill-up the pockets of a member of the royal family, Princess Tsandzile.
“The sooner emaSwati wake-up and realize that, Tinkhundla does not have the interests of Swazis at heart, the better. Tinkhundla is a useless Government interested in enriching one family, not the welfare of the Swazi people. We are therefore not surprised that, it is a member of Mswati’s family who benefited from this ill-thought idea of introducing number plates with an expiry date,” he said.
The PUDEMO President urged emaSwati to speed-up process of overthrowing the Tinkhundla regime and replace it with a democratic Government.
