Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced a temporary suspension of identification (ID) card services due to a malfunction in the ID card production printers. The disruption, which affects the processing and issuance of ID cards nationwide, was confirmed in a press statement issued by the Ministry on 24 September 2025.
According to the statement, the Ministry acknowledges the critical importance of identification documents for citizens. Individuals with urgent ID card requests are encouraged to visit the nearest service center, where special acknowledgements and alternative arrangements will be provided to assist with identification needs during the service interruption.
The Ministry assured the public that it is actively working with relevant stakeholders to resolve the technical problems and restore normal operations as soon as possible. Efforts are also underway to explore solutions aimed at preventing similar disruptions in the future.
Principal Secretary N.R. Nxumalo expressed gratitude to citizens for their patience and understanding as the Ministry addresses the challenges. “Our commitment to restoring ID services to full capacity remains strong, and we are dedicated to meeting the identification needs of the citizens of Eswatini at the earliest opportunity,” the statement reads.
The Ministry did not provide a specific timeline for when ID card services will resume, but emphasized that resolving the malfunction is a priority. Citizens are advised to remain informed through official Ministry channels for updates regarding service restoration.
This disruption comes at a time when access to identification documents is critical for accessing government services, financial transactions, and other official processes.
