Africa-Press – Eswatini. KaBoyce High School was yesterday crowned champion of the 2025 Schools Debate Competition after a heated final against Woodlands High School, which took second place.
Sigangeni High secured third place following a tough contest with Saim Christian High in losers’ finals. The event brought together eight top schools, including St Marks, St Francis, Mbabane Central, and Mater Dolorosa, who competed in earlier rounds.
The competition was sponsored by Pure Rich Beauty Salon, MTN Eswatini, Moetse, and OnPoint Print/Brand.
Regional Inspector of Hhohho, Sibongile Magagula, commended the initiative, noting, “Debates are a powerful tool in developing students’ ability to think critically and present their ideas in a clear, informed, and respectful manner,” she said.
One of the major highlights of the day was the announcement of Phiwayinkhosi Dlamini from KaBoyce High as the Overall Best Speaker. Dlamini received a brand-new Samsung O5s smartphone and other prizes. Beaming with joy, he said the phone was something he had long wished for and that it would support his school research and academic projects.

“We are grateful to be part of this competition from day one. We know we didn’t come out as the winners, but we’re truly thankful for the opportunity to express ourselves our skills, our thoughts, and our potential.”
“We acknowledge the privilege of having platforms like this that allow young people like us to grow and be heard. Competitions like these not only test our knowledge but help us improve our English-speaking skills, grammar, and self-confidence. They push us to think critically across various subjects.”
The 2025 Schools Debate Competition was more than just a contest it was a celebration of youth voices, intellect, and the power of words. As KaBoyce High School celebrates their triumph, the nation applauds all participating students for their commitment to excellence.
