Africa-Press – Eswatini. Joseph Kabila, the former President of the Democratic Republic of Congo(DRC) is facing arrest in his home country for allegedly colluding with the M23 rebels in an attempt to overthrow the Government.

Aljazeera reported on Friday that, the Parliament-Senate in the DRC has voted overwhelmingly, in favour of lifting the prosecution immunity of the ex-President.

It has been reported that, in a secret ballot on Thursday night, the Parliament voted by eighty-eight(88) votes to five(5) to make Kabila liable for prosecution, he vigorously denied the treason allegations

The former Head of State has been accused of treason for alleged links to the M23 armed group, which has taken control of swaths of territory in eastern DRC with the backing of Rwanda.

But previously reported that, former President Kabila was seen in eSwatini as King Mswati’s Guest, he recently attended the King’s Birthday with former Botswana President Ian Khama who was also accommodated by King Mswati when facing political persecution in his home country until his recent safe return.

But DRC authorities said earlier this month that, clear evidence implicating Kabila in “treason, war crimes, crimes against humanity and participation in an insurrectionary movement” has been obtained against the former Head of State.
