Africa-Press – Eswatini. Members of Parliament(MPs) who were opposed to the Taiwan R5.2billion Strategic Oil Reserve project appear to have changed their minds, they are accusing former Siphofaneni Member of Parliament(MP) Mduduzi Magawugawu Simelane of using Facebook in an attempt to control the entire Parliament.
Discussing in their WhatsApp group, a majority of the MPs accused Magawugawu of publishing their pictures and urging people to call them, demanding that, they reject the Taiwan project.
“Phela nyalo nawungasukuma nje ePhalamende utsi awuyifuni le-project kutawutsiwa uwa-Magawugawu, asisiwo ema-MPs aMagawugawu bekunene ngeke asi-controlle ngeli-data. Kona lokutsi asihlaselise ngebantfu kutsi basishayele kwani?. Lomunye ungishayele ngambuta ngatsi “loku benginawe eMphakatsini awukangitjeli ngani loku lokungetjela kona, utfunywe nguMagawugawu?. Ya-Magawugawu yini le-Phalamende?. This project will pass so that he can see he is no-longer an MP, ngitsi ema-MPs nyalo ngeke si-controlwe nge-data”, said one of the MPs.
On another note, Magawugawu, the President of the Swaziland Liberation Movement(SWALIMO) has been lobbying people on social media to call and urge MPs to reject the project.
But some of the MPs who were opposed to it posted in the Parliament Whatsap group saying at first, they wanted to oppose it because Lobamba Lomdzala MP, the Chairperson of the Finance Committee who will present it, should not have it easily passed.
“But now, it seems we will go with Marwick Khumalo, at least he is part of the House and will motivate how the project will assist the country. Sesitawulalela Marwick mine bengitsi ngitayi-oppozer and demand answers ngoba na-Marwick uhle aba nako lokwenta ngatsi konkhe lokuta nge-Portfolio yakhe kumele kuphase, manje nyalo sengtawu-mvumela, ngeke phela umuntfu lolekhashane asidvonse likhala nge-data nje!”, said an MP.
The Taiwan R5.2billion Oil Reserve project was investigated and consistently exposed but, the SWALIMO President subsequently became vocal on social media, telling MPs to reject it while thretening to tell the people not to vote for them during the next elections if they approve the project.
