Africa-Press – Eswatini. THE new eased COVID-19 restrictions do not change the wearing of masks at events and gatherings.

While Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini announced new relaxed COVID-19 restrictions, Emaswati are still advised to wear their masks at all events and gatherings.

In his speech, he explained that the wearing of face masks in open space was no longer mandatory in groups of not more than five people.

Large outdoor gatherings shall continue observing social distancing of at least one metre apart and to

wear face masks. People with flu-like symptoms should not participate in gatherings, whether indoor or outdoor. The entertainment sector includes musical, night clubs and more.

“Restrictions for entertainment events are lifted; however, attendees should adhere to relevant indoor and outdoor restrictions,” the premier said.

Dlamini made it clear that indoor events or gatherings should continue with COVID-19 preventive measures such as sanitising.

Fun lovers took to social media immediately when his speech was shared to express excitement, saying finally they would feel free during outdoor events.

The previous status of the COVID-19 regulations in entertainment sector was that indoor and outdoor, venues could take up to 50 per cent capacity with provisions for proof of vaccinations – if not, only 1 000 people and 2 000 people will be allowed for indoor and outdoor respectively.

This entails to sports gatherings, conferences and music performances. However, now venues can be filled to the brim as long as fun lovers wear their face masks.
