Africa-Press – Eswatini. His Majesty King Mswati III received Dr Chen-Yuan Tung, Minister for Overseas Community Affairs Council from the Republic of China (Taiwan), who paid a courtesy call on him at Lozitha Palace yesterday evening.
The minister and his delegation were led by the Taiwan Ambassador to Eswatini Jeremy Liang for the meeting with His Majesty where they held private talks. Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Thuli Dladla and King’s Office Chief Officer Chief Mgwagwa Gamedze also sat in the meeting. His Majesty’s comments directed to the visiting minister before getting into the private talks, expressed Eswatini’s appreciation for the support the country has received from Taiwan over the years.
His Majesty cited a few projects where the government was supported by Taiwan pointing out the new wing at the Mbabane Government Hospital he recently opened as one classic example of the good cooperation between the two countries.
His Majesty was also impressed to learn that the minister and his delegation have been to different places in the country to visit some of the projects funded by Taiwan. The minister arrived in the country on Friday and is due to leave today.
During his two-day visit he hosted an economic and trade forum with local Taiwanese. The forum was held at Happy Valley Hotel where the Taiwan business people in the country met and discussed a number of issues. He also visited one of their centres in Nhlangano, among other places.
