Africa-Press – Eswatini. His Majesty King Mswati III has urged the Shiselweni business community to create more employment opportuniities for the general populace.

He said it was a reminder to all Emaswati to play their role in creating job opportunities, hence his charge to the business community to expand in order to allow more opportunities for employment.

The King was speaking during the regional business dinner by the Shiselweni business community, held in his honour. The dinner was funded by Build It and B&H Sugar.

He said the people report their unemployment woes to him because they know that if they do so, it is the nation’s as well.

He said it was for that reason he was requesting the business community to create more employment opportunities in the country.

He said it was an assignment and mandate that is supposed to bear positive and great fruits, which he expects to receive a report for come next year, same time.

“I even get to meet these unemployed people during cultural events, where they state their plight while we dance. Once they inform their King, it is for all Emaswati to take responsibility, in changing the situations of these people,” he said.

His Majesty also noted the growth of the Shiselweni region, mentioning the construction of the Johnson Workwear factory shell that had already created 200 jobs.

Expected

He said it was expected that around 3 000 jobs would be created once the factory became operational.

“Another investment initiative involves the construction of another factory shell. This project is estimated to cost approximately E82 million and will create employment for over 100 people during the construction phase. Once operational it is expected to provide more than 1 000 job opportunities,” he said.

He also said they were eargely awaiting the completion of the Mpakeni Dam which the country was promised would change the landscape and lives of several chiefdoms in the region.

The King said the completion of the Sicunusa-Nhlangano Highway will add the required infrastructure for the movement of goods and populace. “The Eswatini Strategic Roadmap has also identified several key growth areas as priorities, which include agriculture and forestry, agro processing, manufacturing, energy and mining, ICT education and tourism,” he said.

The King encouraged businesses in Shiselweni and other regions to explore these opportunities in order to harness the advantages they offer and contribute to the improvement of the community.
