Africa-Press – Eswatini. His Majesty King Mswati III is calling for an end of wars in the world. The king said wars were a hindrance to development. Therefore, they should end to allow countries to focus on development initiatives that will improve lives.

His Majesty the King said this on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Mandvulo Grand Hall, Lozitha Palace. He was receiving letters of credence from ambassadors from five different European countries, which are members of the European Union (EU).

These countries include Hungary, Slovakia, Lithuania, Italy, and Finland. Speaking during the event, the king expressed happiness that these countries wanted to work with Eswatini in contributing to the world’s sustainable development.

The king expressed concerns on the problems that seemed to prevail on the international affairs. He mentioned that the world was at war in almost all of the continents in the world. The king encouraged countries to use organisations such as the United Nations (UN) to find ways of ending the conflicts.

He further lauded the EU for having been a development partner with Eswatini for about 50 years now. He said there were many programmes that they were engaged in with the EU, where the parties benefitted. He also expressed hope that Eswatini would continue to work with these five countries on programmes that would benefit all of them.

Hungary’s Ambassador to Eswatini His Excellency Attilah Horvath, speaking on behalf of all of the five envoys, assured His Majesty the King that they would continue to work with Eswatini to ensure the development of the country. He said Eswatini’s duty-free access to European markets, under EU, would not change. Eswatini would continue to have access to about 450 million consumers within the EU.
