Africa-Press – Eswatini. Mbabane Good news for Mankayane residents as the King’s birthday will be celebrated in the town after 15 years. Minister of Home Affairs Princess Lindiwe announced that the King’s birthday would be hosted in Mankayane in the Manzini region. She said this yesterday during her visit to the Manzini Regional Administration offices. The princess said the King chose to celebrate his birthday in Mankayane on April 19. “I am here to announce to the chiefs and Emazinyane that the King’s birthday will be hosted in Mankayane this year,” she said. She urged chiefs to spread the message to members of the public so that they would all participate. She said through the King’s birthday, members of the public would be able to unite. Urged “The whole country must participate to create peace within the nation,” she said.
She urged chiefs to work hand in hand with the King in order for the event to be successful. “We expect chiefs to be the eyes and ears of the King because they used to be the ones who performed all the duties,” she said. The princess said they expect Imbali regiment from the Manzini region to take the lead during the King’s birthday. Speaking on behalf of chiefs, Chief Gija said they were happy to know that after a long time the King’s birthday would be celebrated in Mankayane. The chief said they would call members of the public to remind them of what would be expected of them. “We will gather people and remind them how they are expected to behave,” he said. He said they would practise traditional songs in preparation for the celebration. The chief said Sibhaca from the Manzini region would take the lead during the King’s birthday. He emphasised that they would teach members of the public about respect because some of the people have never met the king before.
Meanwhile, Mankayane Town Board Chief Executive Officer David Madlopha said they were happy to know the King would celebrate his birthday in Mankayane. He said they had been longing for the King to visit the area for a long time. “We are happy that our dream has finally come true because we were always hoping the King can visit us one day,” he said. He disclosed that some residents of Mankayane would finally get the chance to meet the king for the very first time. “Some of the children from our area have never seen the king and they will be so happy to meet the king,” he said. He said they would be looking forward to celebrating the King’s birthday in the area and it would be a moment they would never forget. “The king’s visit to our area will make great history and we will never forget it,” he said.
