‘KUDUS’ A RARE BREED – BOTSWANA’S GALAXY

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Jwaneng Galaxy PRO Tankiso Morake says Green Mamba box-to-box midfielder Mxolisi ‘Kudus’ Mkhonto has unique talent that the team was fortunate to have.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO), Morake, speaking on behalf of Jwaneng Galaxy, expressed the club’s delight in having a player of Mkhonto’s calibre in their team. He said Mkhonto’s talents and contributions were impressive, and the club was excited about what they have seen from him so far. The player is undergoing assessment at the side and reports suggest that he is close to completing a move.

“We are thrilled to have Mxolisi in the team and his impressive performances have not only caught the attention of the technical team, but also his fellow players. While we don’t want to comment further out of respect of the ongoing talks, we are certainly excited about the prospect of having such a talented player in our team. We believe that Mxolisi’s contributions will be valuable, and we look forward to seeing what he can achieve with us,” he said.

Inyoka Eluhlazane Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mandla Sibiya said they were still in negotiations with Jwaneng Galaxy. He also emphasised that they will disclose the outcome of the talks once everything had been finalised.

“We are currently in negotiations with Jwaneng Galaxy, and we believe that we will soon reach a mutually beneficial agreement,” he said.

It was learnt through impeccable sources that talks might break down, as Green Mamba were allegedly demanding E150 000 for a season loan deal. The asking price for future outright sale is reportedly E350 000. If kudus moves to Botswana , he will become the second player in the league , following in the footsteps of former Royal Leopard and Manzini Wanderers striker Thabiso Mokenkoane , who joined Botswana log leaders Township Rollers. The lanky striker has penned a half-year deal and is expected to earn over E25 000. The forward was earlier linked with Galaxy.

Meanwhile, Jwaneng Galaxy recently made headlines across the continent with a stunning 1-0 away victory against Moroccan giants Wydad AC during a CAF Champions’ League group stage match in Casablanca last month. They are currently third in their group B with four points, just one point behind second-placed Simba FC. Asec Mimosas of Ivory Coast lead the group with 10 points and have already qualified for the knockout stages. They are based in Jwaneng. The club currently play in the Botswana Premier League. Galaxy was founded in 2015 after two local clubs merged: the Jwaneng Comets and the Debswana Youngsters.
