Africa-Press – Eswatini. DOORS are open indeed as Mbabane Swallows have wished all the best for their utility player Kwakhe Thwala.

The player will undergo an assessment with Chippa United from South Africa to try his luck with them.

The player, who was once the subject of interest from another South African club Royal AM, has been a revelation for his new team since he joined them from Young Buffaloes.

The gifted star left the country yesterday through the King Mswati III International Airport to honour the invite from the club that campaigns in the money-spinning DStv Premier Soccer League.

Invited

That the player was invited by the SA side for trials and they had been talking with Mbabane Swallows.

“Their decision to keep their negotiations confidential hints at the seriousness of their pursuit and the desire to avoid any disruptions or publicity,” said a source. Thwala’s skills and experience make him an attractive prospect for clubs seeking midfield reinforcements.

Mbabane Swallows Public Relations Officer (PRO) Knowledge Ngwenya confirmed the developments.

Ngwenya said they wished the player all the best while he enjoyed the beautiful sport.

He is expected to return on Thursday.

“We are proud of this opportunity as it will make other players believe in their talent and push for such international doors to open for them to grow and showcase their God-given talents,” he said.

Improved

Ngwenya said Kwakhe’s work rate since joining Mbabane Swallows had improved greatly and his good performance had earned him a Sihlangu call-up as one of the regular players. “So we have no doubt that he is one of our best players and he can win a contract with Chippa United and any other team,” he added.

The former Young Buffaloes player missed a chance to boost his morale on Saturday when he missed a penalty against Ezulwini United at Mavuso Sports Centre, where the teams played to a 1-all draw.
