Africa-Press – Eswatini. IT never rains but pours for the football fraternity as the new year has come with sad news for Manzini Wanderers and the Dlamini family after the demise of defender Kwanele Dlamini.
The player is reported to have passed away on Sunday after complaining of chest pains while playing in a stokvel game at Lavumisa.
The sad news come closely after the death of Mukelo Nkambule of Denver Sundowns the previous week under unclear circumstances. Manzini Wanderers General Manager Berger Nxumalo confirmed the sad occurrence.
Informed
Nxumalo said it was true that the player had passed on and they were informed by the family on Sunday evening at 11pm.
“We were informed by his uncle, who said the player was among those who were featured in a stokvel game on Sunday at Lavumisa.
They say he complained of chest pains during the game and was substituted and a few minutes later he was rushed to hospital, where doctors tried everything to help him, but unfortunately he couldn’t make it,” he said.
The passing on of the youngster was confirmed on Manzini Wanderers’ Facebook page yesterday morning where some Premier League players had already started sharing their condolences.
Untimely
“With great sadness, Manzini Wanderers Football Club informs you of the untimely passing of our player Kwanele ‘Namnede’ Dlamini.
Our prayers are with his family during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace. More details about the funeral will follow after a family meeting,” reads the post.
Dlamini was a regular player for Manzini Wanderers after he joined the Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe-led side at the beginning of the season from Denver Sundowns. He also once played for Ubombo Flyers.
