Africa-Press – Eswatini. THE MTN Bushfire Festival will this year see the introduction of Comedy All Stars.

Billed to perform at the All-Star stand-up comedy show are Rob van Vuuren and KG Mokgadi who will team up with Zimbabwe’s iconic Q-Dube and Eswatini’s very own Mdura.

This was revealed by the festival’s Creative Director Jiggs Thorne yesterday.
“In true MTN Bushfire style, the line-up this year is truly multi-dimensional, featuring a wholesome and family-friendly mix of artists, who do more than simply entertain, but use their art as a powerful form of creative expression, none more so than some of our favourite comedians,” said Thorne.

Cosy up with these legendary comedians in the intimate setting of the House On Fire Amphitheatre, a sunken ‘Afro-Shakespearean Globe Theatre’ that houses a range of thought-provoking entertainment, including music, poetry, theatre, dance and comedy.

For starters, Rob is Twakkie from the cult comedy sensation The Most Amazing Show, whose countless live shows and two enormously successful television seasons he co-wrote, produced and directed alongside Louw Venter.

Shucksed

He is the guy who shucksed Shuster in Shucks Tshabalala, the record breaking winner of Strictly Come Dancing, the voice of Takeshi’s Castle Thailand on Comedy Central Africa, Van from Van Der Merwe and the star of a host of other film and television shows.
Q Dube has stepped on every big comedy stage in Zimbabwe, namely HIFA, Shoko Festival and IntwasaFestival.

Kagiso KG Mokgadi or Just KG, as he is affectionately known in the quintessential comedy heavyweight was influenced by old-school comedy greats and touted by his colleagues as an up and coming great, this multiple award winning stand-up comedian will have you laughing from deep within your belly.

Mdura needs no introduction in the comedy scene. He is Eswatini’s ‘Trevor Noah’.
“This truly fired up line-up of multi-award-winning comedians will give you a fresh and hilarious perspective on the chaos of the last few years,” said Thorne.

Announced by CNN as one of the “Seven African music festivals you really have to see”, MTN Bushfire is a celebration of all aspects of creative expression.

Multi-Dimensional

This three-day event, renowned for eclectic and multi-dimensional programming rooted in world music, boasts a compelling line-up of theatre, poetry, dance, art exhibits and installations, storytelling, puppetry, film, and also – comedy.
