Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development, Hon. S’khumbuzo Dlamini, has officially handed over the Chiefdom Development Plan (CDP) to Umntfwanenkhosi lomkhulu Amos Mahlalela at Lomahasha Umphakatsi, marking an important step for community-led development.
The plan, developed through a partnership between the Ministry of Tinkhundla Administration and Development and the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs under the Eswatini National Trust Commission (ENTC) through the Mbuluzi Ecosystems Restoration Project, aims to guide Lomahasha’s growth through sustainable, inclusive, and locally driven initiatives.
Minister Dlamini said the CDP provides a framework to translate community aspirations into practical livelihood projects such as sustainable agriculture, infrastructure improvement, and environmental conservation.
“This Chiefdom Development Plan is a framework meant to transform collective aspirations of emaSwati in Lomahasha Chiefdom into concrete sustainable livelihood projects. It is also testament to the power of community-led and participative development,” he said.
The Lomahasha CDP follows the recent handover of a similar plan to Chief Madubane at Dvokolwako Umphakatsi and is the second to be launched among five chiefdoms along the Mbuluzi River. The Minister emphasized that the initiative empowers communities to plan their development in alignment with national priorities.
“The CDP program helps us achieve our goal of empowering communities to plan and develop sustainably. Government will also provide financial support through the Regional Development Fund to implement projects identified in the plan,” Dlamini added.
He further assured that the Ministry would continue offering technical support and guidance during the implementation phase to ensure effective delivery of results.Receiving the plan, Umntfwanenkhosi lomkhulu Amos Mahlalela expressed gratitude to the government and stakeholders for their collaboration, pledging full commitment to the plan’s implementation.
Chairperson of the Chiefdom Development Committee, Justice Thobela, said the CDP would serve as a roadmap to an environmentally safe, economically vibrant, and socially empowered community.The Lomahasha CDP is expected to stimulate local development, create job opportunities, and strengthen resilience through coordinated, community-led planning.
