Africa-Press – Eswatini. Julius Malema, the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) says, the party will continue engaging the South African Communist Party (SACP) informally ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections, the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) reported on Thursday.
This comes as the SACP has confirmed that it will contest next year’s elections independently from the African National Congress (ANC) it’s alliance partner.
But the Communist Party has been disgruntled over the Government of National Unity (GNU) and issues pertaining to the reconfiguration of the alliance.
Addressing the media at party Headquarters in Johannesburg, Malema says while the SACP has no capacity to mobilise, the EFF will engage them as both parties are ideologically aligned.
“I think they must accept that they are just theoreticians and leave it at that, you know there is a guy called Joel Netshitenzhe, you have never heard him saying he’s going to launch a branch of the ANC no matter how good he is ideologically politically. You have never heard that Joel Netshitenzhe is doing door-to-door for mobilization, no it’s just a theoretician which some of your friends who are forming parties should be accepting that they’re just theoreticians,” said the EFF leader.
