Africa-Press – Eswatini. Sive Siyinqaba National Movement Secretary General, Ngomuyayona Gamedze and the Swazi Democratic Party President, Barnes Dlamini say there is nothing sinister about their China visit as many Emaswati do business there.

They noted that both government and business travel in and out of the PRC to buy goods, hence local shops were full of ‘made in China’ goods.

“We know that both government and it’s parastatals buy a lot of goods from the PRC and should they also be labelled with names,” they stated.

According to the two, they undertook a business trip to China, where they were hosted by the China People’s Institute for Foreign Affairs for two main reasons.

The first reason was that they sought to explore business opportunities.

“We observed that currently the PRC is the second largest trading partner for Eswatini when it comes to import trade.

Diplomatic

We figured that since our government has no diplomatic relations with the PRC and consequently no formal trade relationship exist between the two countries, we as political parties can play a role in encouraging PRC businesspeople to set up both retail and manufacturing businesses locally in partnership with our own businesspeople,” reads the statement.

They said they could also play a role in getting businesspeople to export to the PRC. They further indicated that they wanted to learn more about (PRC) political system and how political parties operate given that the PRC was one of the most non-violent and peaceful countries in the world.

They went on to state that the PRC publicly denounces the use of force and or violence to bring about any political change or even transformation, and practice what they preach.

The two reiterated that they were very strong on the use of dialogue than violent confrontation. Gamedze and Dlamini further pointed out that over and above that, PRC had one of the most exponentially growing economies in the world as they currently were one of the biggest and fast growing economies.
