Africa-Press – Eswatini. Yesterday, Mbabane Swallows officially unveiled Masotja Vilakati as their new chairperson.
The team held a press conference yesterday at Molly’s Restaurant at Checkers, where Chairperson of the Elders, Absalom Ngwenya highlighted that they appointed a chairperson, who would be the reference point for all the other members of the club, as they were without a club president yet. He mentioned that the club was currently under his leadership, citing that as he was looking over the whole of the capital city giants, he had to make sure that the team continued to flourish instead of worsening. “We are still in talks over the club president issue; at the moment, the whole of Mbabane Swallows is under my care. When you are in charge of such a large entity, one has to be on their toes,” mentioned Ngwenya.

He continued to highlight that the purpose of unveiling Vilakati as the chairperson of the club was to continue mending what is broken within the club. He cited that as they were still talking to former President Archbishop Bheki Lukhele. They are also engaging others for the position as it is still vacant. “We have faith that the bishop will return to us, but as we wait, we have come here today to unveil Masotja Vilakati as our Chairperson,” said Ngwenya. Vilakati, who is also Public Service Pension Fund Chief Executive Officer (CEO), is not new to Swallows’ structures. He was treasurer until his reported resignation with then Management Committee (MC) Chairperson Lloyd ‘Magic Feet’ Maziya back in 2018. Ngwenya went on to mention that they would be working together, where the management committee (MC) as well as the supporters committee (SC) would all report to him before he reported to the chairperson of the elders.
