Mavuso: Goat Owners must Pay R120 after Recovery

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Former Mkhiweni Member of Parliament(MP) Machawe Mavuso says Lavumisa Town Council now forcing the owners of the stolen goats recovered by soldiers to pay one hundred and twenty Rands(R120.00) for each goat.

In a voice note sent to editor Zweli Martin Dlamini, the former MP said, he drove to Lavumisa to identify his stolen goats as per the directive of Army Spokesperson Lieutenant Tengetile Khumalo but unfortunately, his livestock was not part of the recovered goats.

“But I was surprised after being told that emaSwati are expected to pay R120.00 for each goat, this is the responsibility of Government. How can Government be paid for keeping exhibits in a safe place, isn’t that the responsibility of the State?”, said the former MP.

Efforts to see a comment from Urban Development Minister Apollo Maphalala proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report as his cellphone rang unanswered.

Army Spokesperson Tengetile Khumalo told that, soldiers recovered over one hundred(100) goats, she urged emaSwati to contact the police and identify their livestock.
