Montigny Investments Spreads Festive Cheer to Elderly

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Festive joy arrived early for the elderly and disabled residents of Velezizweni after Montigny Investments donated food parcels valued at approximately E27 000, bringing much-needed support to some of the community’s most vulnerable members.

The distribution, held at Velezizweni Primary School in partnership with the Insika Yemaswati Charity Organisation, benefited 93 recipients, many of whom are elderly, disabled, or without a stable source of income.

Velezizweni Bucopho, Sifiso Gumedze, expressed deep appreciation to Montigny Investments for the timely donation. “You have helped end hunger for those who can no longer provide for themselves,” he said, further pledging that the community would continue to protect the company’s surrounding plantation as a gesture of gratitude.

Each food parcel contained 5kg of mealie meal, 5kg of beans, 750ml of cooking oil, and 3kg of sugar — a meaningful contribution during the festive season, when many households face increased financial strain.

The event also featured a touching moment as Gogo Lomasontfo Malinga received a new wheelchair, donated by Bongani Dlamini of the Mankayane Town Board, bringing dignity and relief to her daily life.

Inkhosikati LaNkambule, founder and patron of Insika Yemaswati, described the outreach as spiritually driven. “This is the work of a mighty God,” she said. “We are called to uplift those who are often forgotten due to age or disability.”

Montigny Investments’ Community Liaison Officer, Mancoba Nkambule, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to social responsibility. “We believe in giving back to the communities around us through initiatives that have real impact,” he stated.

Representing the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, Mfanawenkhosi Simelane encouraged beneficiaries to register for government elderly and disability grants, while also advocating for more investment in special care homes.

Ngwempisi MP Bhekibandla Vilakati reminded the community of the cultural importance of respecting and supporting elders. “They are living archives of our history and identity,” he said, pledging his continued support to Insika Yemaswati’s initiatives.

Inkhosikati Make LaShongwe of Velezizweni Royal Kraal praised the organisation’s transparency, noting that “even when funds are limited, the work is carried out with integrity.”

The event ended in song and celebration, as beneficiaries expressed joy and gratitude for the generosity that restored hope and dignity at the close of the year.
