Africa-Press – Eswatini. Mswati’s Judge Mumcy Dlamini has dismissed pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) application for acquittal.

MPs Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube who are facing politically motivated terrorism charges were arrested on the 25th July 2021 after an order allegedly issued by King Mswati, they were leading calls for democratic reforms inside Parliament.

The MPs, through their legal team, filed an application to be acquitted in terms of Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act on the grounds that the Crown failed to prove that they committed a crime, however, Judge Mumcy Dlamini dismissed the application on Tuesday.

“In the circumstances, the accused persons have a case to answer,” said the Judge when delivering the judgement.

The dismissal of the pro-democracy MPs application for acquittal by Judge Dlamini comes amid reports suggesting that King Mswati is highly expected to attend a Summit organized by the Southern African Development Community(SADC) that seeks to resolve the escalating eSwatini political crisis.
