Africa-Press – Eswatini. MTN Eswatini has once again brought home the MTN Group President and CEO Award for excellently executing the 21 Days of Y’ello Care of 2022 after having won the 2017 and 2019 grand prizes.

This is a highly contested award among the 21 MTN operations which was presented to MTN Eswatini’s Chief Executive Officer, Wandile Mtshali, by the MTN Group President and Chief Executive Officer, Ralph Mupita.

The MTN Group President and CEO Award is accompanied by E1.8 million (US$100 000) prize money which the company will further invest towards CSI projects in the country.

MTN Eswatini’s CEO, shared his elation for the recognition of MTN Eswatini’s CSI efforts. “This award is for the nation because it allows us the opportunity to further extend our CSI objectives, touching as many members of the public as possible.

What further excites me are the additional three out of eight Values Awards which we were awarded, receiving the Best Use of ICT, The Spirit and the Relationships Awards,” Mtshali stated.

In a statement released by MTN Eswatini yesterday, it was disclosed that the 2022 version of 21 Days assumed a different format, diverting from the norm and focused on leveraging on digital platforms as a form of empowerment for the nation, especially the youth.

It was mentioned that this follows the organisations shift from telecommunications focus to a digital and platform entity. The change in strategy further cascaded to the MTN Foundation’s new focus towards digital skills for digital jobs initiatives.

“As a result in 2022, our 21 Days of Y’ello Care projects were predominantly digital. The launch of the campaign was streamed live on social media platforms where the flagship Youth Empowerment App MTN Khanyisa was also launched,” part of the statement read.

MTN Eswatini mentioned that through partnerships with Huawei, JA Eswatini and ENACTUS, MTN delivered a highly impactful online five-day entrepreneurship and digital skills course to over 200 youths.

Additionally, the organisation conducted the Doers’ Den Master Class which preceded the Doer’s Den Competition which saw 10 young locals each winning E10 000 to invest back into growing their businesses, scaling them to employ other young people.

“We value the partnerships we have developed over the years because these partnerships allow us to reach more people and we truly appreciate all our partners and the MTN family the role they each played leading us to win this award,” Mntshali stated.
