Africa-Press – Eswatini. Ntombi Mhlongo, the Secretary General of the Eswatini National Association of Journalists(ENAJ) says, the newly announced National Media Awards(NMA) seek to recognize journalism excellence and elevate professional standards.
In a statement sent the Secretary General said, the National Media Awards will be held in collaboration with the Eswatini Editors Forum(EEF), an organization for senior journalists and editors.
On another note, Lwazi Dlamini, the President of the Journalists Association said, “the awards will celebrate the work of journalists that informs with credibility while shaping” the nation’s narrative.
“The NMAs are back to celebrate work that informs with credibility, honours journalistic integrity,
and shapes the nation’s narrative.This platform
recognises excellence, encourages high standards, and affirms journalism’s central role in our
democracy,” said the ENAJ President.
Mbongeni Mbingo, the Chairman of the Eswatini Editors Forum applauded the Journalists Association for bringing back the Media Awards.
“This platform is long overdue. We are pleased to collaborate in bringing back the Media Awards. Our editors and journalists have needed this-it celebrates leadership in the newsroom and rewards outstanding journalism”, he said.
Journalists and editors have applauded the new ENAJ Executive Committee led by Financial Times editor Lwazi Dlamini for working tirelessly in professionalizing the organization and bringing back the National Media Awards.
