The Ministry of Public Service welcomed a new era of leadership as Minister Mabulala Maseko formally introduced Mthunzi Shabangu as the newly appointed Principal Secretary (PS). The warm ceremony took place today in the Ministry’s conference room, where staff members gathered to officially receive the PS following his Royal appointment on June 21, 2025.
In his welcoming remarks, Maseko expressed great optimism about the future of the Ministry under Shabangu’s leadership.
“We warmly welcome you into the Ministry and we are confident that you will manage to diligently execute your duties, bearing in mind that this is a central agency Ministry. I strongly believe that you will enable the Ministry to shine and excel,” he said.
In response, Shabangu delivered heartfelt gratitude for the honour bestowed upon him.
“I humbly appreciate the opportunity that has been afforded to me by Their Majesties and to that I say, Bayethe wena WaPhakathi,” he said. “With your assistance, I will strive to attain and align with the vision of the Ministry, which rests on the premise of striving for excellence in public service delivery.”
True to his word, the new PS has already demonstrated his dedication and preparedness. Yesterday afternoon, just days into his new role, Shabangu led the Ministry as it appeared before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). His efforts did not go unnoticed—PAC Chairperson Madala Mhlanga commended him for being well-versed on the Ministry’s matters despite being new to the position.
With a strong start and visible commitment, Principal Secretary Mthunzi Shabangu is set to make a lasting impact in the Ministry of Public Service as it continues its mission to enhance service delivery across the Kingdom of Eswatini.
