PHUZUMOYA FORENSIC AUDIT REPORT PRESENTED TO RESTORE PEACE

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Hope for renewed unity emerged at the Phuzumoya Sugarcane Scheme on April 15, 2026, as members received the findings of a 12-month forensic audit aimed at resolving financial concerns and restoring trust in the community project.

Lubombo Regional Administrator Themba Msibi presented the report at Ka-Mkhweli, where members had gathered to hear findings into allegations that had sparked tensions and uncertainty over the handling of scheme funds.

Speaking during the presentation, Themba Msibi said the year-long forensic process was necessary to ensure a thorough and credible investigation.

“It is true that we are here at Ka-Mkhweli to present the forensic audit report. This process took a full year because we wanted a thorough and credible investigation,” he said.

The RA said the sugarcane scheme was created to empower community members through farming on land allocated for sugarcane production, making sound governance and transparency essential.

He said the audit process was also supported by a court directive, which mandated him, as Regional Administrator, to establish a committee to further investigate governance concerns and recommend practical solutions.

According to Themba Msibi, the purpose of the forensic audit was not only to establish facts, but also to rebuild confidence among members and safeguard the future of the project.

“The report is meant to bring peace and harmony among members so that the project can move forward and continue supporting livelihoods,” he said.

Phuzumoya sugarcane schemes have been important in supporting rural livelihoods through employment, income generation and agricultural development.

Like many community farming projects, such schemes can face governance and operational challenges. However, leaders say resolving disputes through lawful and transparent processes is vital to protecting members’ interests and ensuring sustainability.

The presentation of the report is expected to pave the way for improved cooperation, stronger oversight and renewed focus on productivity.
